Grace

{via}

Regular readers know that I'm a pretty big bookworm. As an English major, it's just always been a part of who I am. And while I try to be openminded about what I'll read, I usually stick to my favorites -- literary fiction, travel writing, historical fiction, a good chick lit book every now and again, and so on. So basically, I've never been one for non-fiction. But memoirs and autobiographies, I can get on board with {the only requirement: that the writer & subject is someone I find interesting}. Right now, I'm reading Vogue creative director Grace Coddington's new memoir, Grace. First of all, can we just take a moment to reflect on how COOL her job is? Among other things, she gets to style the fashion editorials you see across the pages of Vogue, calling all the shots from themes to locations to concepts to models. Talk about an amazing 9 to 5. Admittedly, I didn't know much about her before I saw her in The September Issue, a 2009 documentary chronicling the process of putting together Vogue's biggest and most important issue. Anywho, I'm only about halfway through the book, but it's already full of name dropping, glamorous getaways to Paris and the South of France, and a peek inside what modeling in the 50s and 60s was really like. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in fashion or magazine publishing.. although it does leave me wishing I could so effortlessly stumble upon a glamorous editorial position like hers, too.

Oh wow! I have to admit I'm not much of a fashionista and may not know everything there is to read about Vogue and what not, but the life and that kind of job intrigues me so much! Just like the Devil Wears Prada!
