Way To Grow Review

A few months ago, I decided to chop off my hair. I figured it would be a nice change for summer, and was so thrilled with the end result -- the angled cut was different enough from what I normally go with, but not too out there (I'm always hesitant when it comes to taking big hair risks) and overall the short length made it super easy to maintain and style over the scorching hot months. But lately, I've been itching to get my longer locks back... which is why I was super excited when Not Your Mother's sent me a few products from their new Way To Grow line to try out. I received the Way To Grow Long & Strong Shampoo, Conditioner, and Leave-in Conditioner and have used all three products a handful of times since receiving them. The Way To Grow line promises to strengthen hair with its anti-breakage formula, made with "essential vitamins, herbs, and bioactive extracts."

While it remains to be seen if the products will really help speed up the growing process, I can truthfully say I'm beyond happy with them so far. I instantly feel a difference in the texture of my hair. I've tried using all three products together and have also used the conditioner and leave-in conditioner alone, and each time my hair feels extra soft and healthy. I also feel like, when curling my hair immediately after using these products, the curls just look healthier and better overall. I will definitely be purchasing at least the conditioners after I am done!

Have you ever given NYM a try? My favorite was always their Beach Babe range, but it's got some serious competition now...

Leopard & Lace

H&M Cardigan; Phase One Top; Forever 21 Skirt; MIA Shoes; H&M Belt

Lately I've been really into mixing different prints and textures. As you may have seen on Instagram, I recently paired this leopard print cardigan with my favorite snakeskin leggings, and this past weekend I decided to mix it up and wear it with a lace tank for some family time. With a simple color palette (and the tiniest pop of color), mixing leopard and lace turned out to be a fun and effortless way to transition work-wear (like this pencil skirt) into weekend-wear.

DIY Halloween Costume: His & Hers

Paul Fredrick Shirt; Levis Trousers; Steve Madden Boots; Trafalgar Suspenders; Forever 21 Hat

Because Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, I thought it would be fun to do a DIY costume post.. with a twist! I definitely think women have more of a variety to choose from when it comes to easy yet creative DIY costumes. So today's post is for the guy in your life - but the great thing about this classic Clockwork Orange costume isn't that it can be put together with just a few key items (although that's a plus), it's that the ladies can use it as inspiration too! It's such a simple look and so easy to tailor to both men and women. You're ready to go with just a crisp white shirt, white pants, some suspenders and a bowler hat!

What's In My Bag

I always find it fun to peek inside some of my favorite bloggers' or fashion icons' bags. It's interesting to see what others consider essentials, and I think often you'll find that there are certain items most women keep on hand at all times, albeit in different variations.

After looking through Rue La La's Handbag Style Guide, which has everything from care tips to the history of handbags (personally, I found the Designer Handbag Signatures fascinating and super helpful for anyone who loves browsing vintage shops for some designer steals), I decided to put together my own post featuring one of my favorite Marc by Marc Jacobs cross body bags.  Here are some of the things I consider handbag essentials at the moment...
Kate Spade Wallet: Self explanatory - I bought this wallet about a year ago because I loved the fun, bright color and perfect size

Ray Ban Sunglasses: I can't leave the house without sunglasses, and I tend to rotate between my favorite Ray Bans - right now, it's the Wayfarers

Marc Jacobs Glasses: I usually have contacts on but take my glasses with me everywhere (plus I just adore this pair!)

Lip Balm/Gloss: This constantly changes and really depends on where I'm going and what I'm wearing, but right now it's NYX Butter Glosses (in Cherry Pie and Creme Brulee), Sugar Lip Treatment (in Passion), and EOS balm

MAC Opulash Optimum Black Mascara: Always a quick way to look more awake, and easy to apply in a hurry

Icebreakers Wintergreen Mints: I tend to prefer mints over gum, and these are my favorites

Snack: I always like to keep a sweet snack on hand just in case - currently, it's dark chocolate bars from Trader Joe's

Nourish Organic Coconut & Argan Oil Lotion: I try to have lotion around at all times - this is also something I switch up often, but loved the compact size of this particular lotion I received recently

Planner & Pen: I am constantly needing to make to-do lists and write things down, so I love having a small and simple planner to keep track of everything - I especially like carrying this in my bag when running errands or at work

iPhone: Because who doesn't leave home without a smartphone? Used mostly for texting and photo taking/editing/posting (@dreamingenfrancais on Instagram)

Perfume: I always keep a small roller version of my favorite scent of the moment to re-apply on the go

Aztec + Chambray

Forever 21 Shirt; Project Social T Tank; Topshop Skirt; Report Shoes; Michael Kors Watch

Let's talk about this skirt. I spotted it while wandering through the Topshop section at Nordstroms in South Coast Plaza over the summer, and I could have sworn it was just calling my name and asking me to take it home ;) since then, it's quickly become one of my new favorites and I can't wait to transition it into Fall with black tights and booties. And of course, because I'm kind of obsessed with chambray and this shirt in particular, I couldn't resist putting the two togther for dinner with boyfriend and a couple of friends from out of town. I normally throw this shirt on over a tank or wear it buttoned up with a pencil skirt for work, but I thought this would be a fun way to dress the skirt down a bit without taking away from it.
